What a top 2018 season for the juniors. Congratulations to all the kids, we were witness to some great talent and some outstanding results from all eleven teams.

The junior prizegiving took place on Saturday 1st September 2018 at the Clubrooms, there was a great turn out to celebrate some great results.

There was a hard fought battle over the silverware this year. Congratulations to the following teams:

Best Overall Team: U10 Rocks. They have been a stand out team in the Junior section and had a five-year unbeaten streak. This trophy was well deserved.

Unbeaten Team 2018: U7 Stingrays. You read that correct, the Stingrays were unbeaten for the entire 2018 season. What an achievement for a team that has only played together this year. Great result for a great wee team.

Best Rippa Team: Makos. Formerly the Mini Makos, the ‘Mini’ was dropped mid season to celebrate the growth as a team. The celebrations continued when they were awarded with the Best Rippa Team to recognise this growth.

Best Girl: Ella Allpress -U12 Sharks. Ella has had a great season and also won Most Improved Player within her team.

2018 also saw a change in our Junior Club Captain, with Ray and Liz Humphries taking on the role. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for stepping up to the plate and taking this on. Many thanks.

The Junior Committee have already started thinking and planning for 2019. We would like to raise the Club’s profile within the younger community and to keep working on increasing the numbers for the juniors. Two ways that we hope to do this is by visiting all the surrounding schools and to organise a kids fun day at the Clubrooms in late February or March time.

A special thanks to all the Coaches and Managers that have made this season so great. We have heard some great feedback on the quality of Coaching and we all really appreciate all the time and effort everyone puts in. Also to our sponsors, especially to Winnie Bagoes for the Player of the Day certificates and to Joe’s Garage for the Hero certificates. They always go down a treat.

Roll on 2019.
