Letter From your President

News » Sumner Rugby Club

With the club rugby coming to a close again this year I would like to celebrate where we are as a club and some of our achievements.

First time making top 6 break in the Metro Premier Competition, The plate Trophy in Division 4, An extremely high level of results across a lot of our junior teams, Large numbers of both our senior players and junior players being selected for representative honours in Canterbury Rugby, but also in other provinces around New Zealand, some of our coaches and managers doing roles with many rep teams as well. Some of our players this year are also playing in other countries, these are all very tangible and things we need as members of our club to be immensely proud of.

But we also need to celebrate and acknowledge all of our hard working dedicated Coaches and Managers across all teams in our club, putting a massive amount of voluntary hours into all of our teams, junior and senior, because without them it just wouldn’t be possible to do and perform as we do, a massive thank you to you all.

We must also recognise the members of our committees who also put in big hours voluntarily behind the scenes in most cases doing all the tasks necessary to keeping our club going, and in a good a shape as it is now, please if you are able to help out in the future in any way please either let me know, or a committee member.

A mention also needs to go out to our Club Administrator Nikki Taylor who has worked for us in the last 2 years, is moving on and wish her every success in the future, I know she will be there to help out when she is able, and Riki our R.D.O. who we aim to have on board as a full time person in the near future, who has done a terrific job and we are all reaping the benefits of all he brings to the role he has made his own.

Lastly a big thanks to our Sponsors, all the money and good’s they provide us with along with a couple of charities that enable us to do everything we do out of the goodness of their hearts for the benefit of our community. Please can everyone support these businesses where possible as the support they give us is tremendous.
