As one of Christchurch’s largest junior rugby clubs, we’re proud to offer teams for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. Our vibrant and inclusive community is built on the energy of passionate volunteer coaches, dedicated parents, and the values of teamwork, respect, and growth.

Whether it’s a first game or the first step towards senior rugby, this is where lifelong friendships are formed and the “Sumner for Life” journey begins.

Little rippers:

Our Little Rippers programme is the perfect introduction to rugby for our youngest players, welcoming boys and girls aged 3–5 years old. Designed around fun, movement, and imagination, each session focuses on basic skills through games and activities that keep kids engaged and smiling.

Sessions run for 9 - 10 weeks on a Saturday morning during term 2 only.

We kick off at 8:30am and stay active for between 30–45 minutes — the ideal length for little legs and big energy! It’s a relaxed, inclusive environment where siblings, parents, and grandparents are all encouraged to join in and share the experience.

Little Rippers is all about building confidence, coordination, and a love of the game from the very beginning. It’s a fantastic, fun-filled way for kids to discover the joy of rugby while making new friends along the way.
